Job Description

The Senior Associate / Associate – Import & Trade Operations supports the end-to-end import process to ensure goods are imported, cleared, delivered, and recorded accurately, on time, and in compliance with customs, trade, and company requirements.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Coordinate import shipments with suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, airlines, customs brokers, port or airport authorities, and internal teams.
  • Prepare, check, and maintain import documents, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading or airway bills, certificates of origin, import licenses, permits, insurance documents, and customs declarations.
  • Track shipments from supplier dispatch through customs clearance and final delivery; follow up proactively on delays, missing documents, and shipment discrepancies.
  • Support customs-clearance processes and coordinate duty, tax, freight, insurance, port, and other import-related payments.
  • Ensure import activities follow applicable customs regulations, trade rules, duty and tax requirements, and internal company procedures.
  • Verify shipping documents, quantities, product details, tariff codes, shipment costs, and supplier information for accuracy.
  • Maintain import-shipment trackers, clearance status reports, documentation files, cost records, and supporting approvals.
  • Assist with landed-cost calculations, import-cost reconciliation, supplier or freight invoices, and payment-supporting documents.
  • Work closely with Procurement, Finance, Warehouse, Sales, Logistics, and suppliers to support timely product availability.
  • Support audits, inspections, regulatory reporting, and management reviews by preparing accurate records and documentation.
  • Identify operational delays, compliance risks, documentation gaps, and cost-saving opportunities; report them to the supervisor promptly.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure proper filing and retention of all import and trade documentation.
Senior Associate – Additional Responsibilities
  • Lead coordination of more complex or high-priority import shipments and resolve escalated clearance, documentation, and delivery issues.
  • Review import documents, shipment trackers, cost records, and reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Monitor clearance timelines, outstanding payments, import costs, and vendor performance; recommend corrective actions where required.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, suppliers, and relevant authorities to resolve complex issues efficiently.
  • Support trade-compliance reviews, process improvements, standard operating procedures, and risk-control measures.
  • Prepare and review import-performance, landed-cost, clearance-status, and outstanding-shipment reports for management.
  • Provide guidance and on-the-job support to junior team members when required.

Job Requirements

For Senior Associate
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in import operations, international logistics, freight forwarding, customs clearance, or trade compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of import procedures, Incoterms, shipping documentation, customs clearance, tariff classification, duties, taxes, and landed-cost calculations.
  • Experience coordinating with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, shipping lines, and relevant authorities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with ERP, customs, freight-management, or logistics systems is preferred.
  • Good written and spoken communication skills in English and Myanmar language.
  • High integrity, accountability, and commitment to trade compliance.
For Associate
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in import operations, logistics, freight forwarding, customs clearance, or a related role; fresh graduates with relevant internship experience may be considered.
  • Basic understanding of import procedures, Incoterms, shipping documents, customs clearance, and trade compliance.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to manage documents, trackers, and shipment information accurately.
  • Good coordination, communication, and follow-up skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with ERP or logistics systems is an advantage.
  • Good written and spoken communication skills in English and Myanmar language.
  • Responsible, organized, adaptable, and willing to learn.
